What did you study and why?
I studied a postgraduate degree in Commercial Property Appraisal and Management at Sheffield Hallam University. I have always had an interest in the built environment, how it affects us and how we interact with it. I studied my degree also to get the training and knowledge required to become a commercial property surveyor.

What made you chose a career at CoStar?
CoStar was appealing to me because at a time when so many commercial real estate companies were making cut backs and reducing staff sizes, they were still hiring and expanding their workforce and taking advantage of the market situation. This made me feel like I was joining an ambitious and forward moving company who had clear goals for the future. It was also an opportunity for me to bring my own knowledge of the commercial sector to fruition.

What's the highlight of your experience to date?
On a personal level, moving to Glasgow has been my biggest highlight. Having no friends or family in the area made it a bit of a challenge! But from day one I was made to feel so welcomed by everyone in the office, and I have made some real friends who have helped me settle in quickly and feel a part of the team (except perhaps when the world cup was on!). From a professional point of view, building strong relationships with some of my agents who see the importance of the work we do is a real highlight.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Although I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at CoStar, I still hope to one day begin work as a chartered surveyor when the right role comes along. But in the mean time I feel like I am in the ideal place to gain further experience, keep up to date with market performance and to build relationships with surveyors through my daily interactions.
