What's your background?
Before working for CoStar I studied Events Management in Glasgow. Although I loved it, I knew it was not the career for me – more of a hobby. So I decided to follow in my mother's footsteps and went into selling financial and insurance products. After two years I knew I had to move on: the company was quite small and there were no clear steps for career progression.
Why did you decide to join CoStar?
The fact it ticked all of my boxes. I was looking for a large company that would invest in my professional and personal development.
What was your first impression about the company?
At first I was overwhelmed with the office as I was used to working on my own, however the people were really friendly and it is a great environment to work in (and what other company has GHD straighteners in the ladies!). There's a strong social side as well, with regular events organised for the whole office- Christmas party and summer BBQ definitely not to be missed!
What's the highlight of your experience to date?
It has to be my secondment to London to work with Field Research on the London Inventory project. The goal was to track and measure every single commercial property building in town. When they advertised this assignment I thought it was a great opportunity not only to acquire new experience but also to really get to know London.
The project was very different to my Research role in Glasgow, where I was office bound. It was such an amazing episode in my life! CoStar arranged everything and put me up in a fantastic fully serviced apartment in Maida Vale. Every weekend I was out and about seeing shows, visiting museums, hitting some of the amazing markets that are tucked away and enjoyed many lunches in Covent Garden with my friends and family.
