A Day in The Life:
Investment & Development Research Manager
What is your job about?
I manage the investment comps team who track and record UK commercial property transactions. I lead the team in collating the information in our growing investment database. The information is then used by our subscribers for comparable information. I also produce a quarterly investment bulletin which includes an overview of the investment market and investment agent league tables. The planning team is a new aspect of my job that involves tracking and recording new and proposed developments.
What does your typical day look like?
I start off each morning looking at the team's performance for the previous day. This is to ensure the teams are working efficiently and to target areas of improvement. I mentor the two teams by setting goals, provide guidance and support as well as encourage the team to find ways improve performance. There are also various interesting one-off projects which crop up on occasions, usually to do with a client needing bespoke information.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job? And the best part?
It can be difficult dividing my time between the two teams but I find this challenging and this really motivates me. The planning team is a new area of research for CoStar so I have spent a lot of time setting the team and systems for collecting the data.
And the best part?
I enjoy the challenges that arise from working in a dynamic environment alongside motivated ambitious people.
